In 1991 Philip and Amy Rose started SciTech with the aim  to amaze children with hands on science. The core belief being that children learn by doing!

Three decades later SciTech has been and continues to be a huge success and has gained much popularity, the telling fact being that 80% of its children have attended before and the majority of its staff were once children at SciTech.

In 2022 Philip handed over the running of SciTech to Tony however, he is still involved in delivering amazing hands on science to amazing children.

Tony McGuinness joined the team in 2002, with his eldest son Tom attending as a young scientist.

Tony and Tom now jointly run SciTech and are looking forward to the next exciting chapter.

At SciTech we blend science, technology and enthusiasm. We add to this the generosity of industry and academia to produce an inspired and secure environment that promotes an enthusiastic enjoyment of learning in children of all ages.

The SciTech Holiday Schools offer children a special opportunity to take part in a rich variety of scientific and technological activities. Activities that many parents ask “Why couldn’t we do that when we were children”. Indeed, many parents ask when we will do a SciTech for grownups (watch this space).

They say “it’s not what you know, but who you know!” and we pride ourselves in knowing children and through that we know how to work with them to generate their best.

Igniting the spark of curiosity and creativity

Our ethos was instilled in SciTech from the very start by Philip. That is to provide a fun and engaging environment for hands on science in order to develop an early interest in science and technology.

The conventional portrayal of science may not appeal to all. However, we believe science is for everyone and endeavour to make it accessible for all kinds of minds. We do this through our varied programmes which span many topics and areas of science and technology.
