Particle Physics – measure the size of a molecule & explore the structure of an atom just like Lord Rutherford, Geiger and Marsden did in Manchester over 100 years ago.  As far as we know, they did not get to make ice-cream with liquid nitrogen but you will and you will appreciate why rapid freezing makes the best ice cream!

Sound – look at visual representations of sound, explore resonant frequency and how this is used in musical instruments.  Measure distances with sound like dolphins.  Make your own panpipes and learn to measure the speed of sound with drainpipes!

Bubbles – carry out experiments on bubbles, make massive bubbles. Make fizzy food by putting bubbles into food & take a unique look at bubbles – from the inside! Look at the use of bubbles in modern medicine and decide if bubbles in the blood is a good or bad thing?
